Secret Cures

Dying_To_Be_Me

Why is it that secret cures for deadly diseases are most often only given to people with money or citizens who could afford the cure? Why are we not all considered equals in the U.S. when it comes to sustaining the number one priority in life – your health? In my opinion, all citizens should be considered equals when it comes to medical care in the United States of America.

In addition, I think there is a definite need for a medical database of cures. An international database of cures would be a wonderful tool for doctors who are seeking knowledge about cures or preventative medicine for rare illnesses or deadly diseases. More subprojects like the Tropical Disease Initiative (TDI) need to be created as well. These international projects would pool together researchers from all over the world with the goal of discovering free tropical disease drugs that could be cheaply distributed in poor countries.

I think our generation realizes the value of mass communication in enhancing society more so than any other generation before us because we have grown up using mass communication tools such as email, Prodigy, AOL, AIM, Myspace, Facebook, Twitter, etc.. These tools are very good for discussing world controversies, including but not limited to Human Rights issues. Mass communication tools like the ones mentioned above are also good for sharing ideas on how to solve other humanity issues.

As we move into a more open source society, there is no doubt the equality of life of the average citizen will improve. You will often find me carrying a Doctor Pepper bottle wherever I go to remind myself as to where our society is headed. Open source medicine will be zero cool.
